The Georgia Brass Band

Rob Rickles

Rob Rickles is a recovering trumpet player who has found a home in the baritone section of the Georgia Brass Band. As a teenager growing up in Smyrna, Georgia, Rob studied with Larry Black of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and was a member of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra trumpet section and an All State Band and Orchestra participant. After a year of studying music at Northwestern University, Rob’s interests took a turn and he set the horn down for a couple of decades, picking it up again when his sons started to play trumpet in elementary school. In addition to the Georgia Brass Band, Rob plays euphonium with the Alpharetta City Band and sounds Taps for the funerals of military veterans through Bugles Across America and the Veterans Alliance. Rob earned a bachelor’s of science degree in communication studies from Northwestern University and an MBA from Georgia State University. To cover the costs of food, shelter, college tuitions and valve oil, Rob is a communications consultant for Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He and his wife Ellen live with their two sons in Alpharetta, Georgia.
